Volkswagen is finalizing the details to carry out the world premiere of its renewed sports utility. The new Volkswagen Polo GTI has been seen in broad daylight during road tests. The new Polo range will keep the successful and popular GTI version in its portfolio.

The Volkswagen Polo has recently undergone a major overhaul. A mid-cycle update will allow this generation, the sixth, to face the rest of the commercial life ahead. The old Volkswagen Polo GTI received a major facelift that brings novelties in terms of exterior design, technological equipment (connectivity and automation), and mechanical level.

The renewed Polo range is already on sale in Spain. The configurator has been available, and the first deliveries will take place in the short term. Moreover, it should be remembered that the production of this model takes place in Spain. More specifically, in the facilities that Volkswagen has in Navarra. So now the range is incomplete, especially for the high part.

This mid-cycle update is also coming to the Volkswagen Polo GTI. What's more, the debut of the new 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI is just around the corner, and for the first time, it has been seen in broad daylight. Thanks to our spy photographers, we have the opportunity to take a look at some snapshots of this interesting model carrying out some road tests.

As part of the new Polo presentation, Volkswagen confirmed that the Polo GTI version would be presented this summer. In addition, a short time later, a sketch was published as an advance that added to the recreation that we published and allowed us to glimpse what the renewed Polo GTI will be adapted to the new design language that the German brand is applying to all its new models.

On an aesthetic level, the changes will focus on the front. Logically, the new Polo has been taken as a starting point and, to all its new features, the specific characteristics that the GTI model sports are added. It will release light groups, bumpers and there will be news on the grid. Nor should we lose sight of the rear, where the later drivers will be the clear protagonists.

Although we do not have the opportunity to look inside, the truth is that we can take as a reference the cabin of the conventional model and start from the base of its most complete configuration, the R-Line finish. Naturally, exclusive details will have to be added. The seats, steering wheel, pedals, upholstery and trim will be decisive to achieve an atmosphere in which a more sporty air is inhaled.

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI will benefit from the technological advances in connectivity and automation already seen in the basic Polo, which, as we have previously pointed out, is ready for its assault on Spanish dealers.

The engine of the new 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI

Under the hood will be a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, the same block used by the outgoing model. Now, it will be modified to be able to increase its power slightly. The Polo GTI marketed to date develops 200 hp and 320 Nm of maximum torque. In addition, it has been offered with both a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. Always with front-wheel drive.

Also, the renewed Volkswagen Polo had its commercial debut.

The new Volkswagen Polo is presented to the public in the middle of a transition period and, above all, a process of change that directly affects segment B. This category brings together a large part of car sales in Europe. Electric cars, connectivity, and automation are accelerating as the pillars on which the automotive industry will be based.

The new Volkswagen Polo will only be equipped with four gasoline engines. One of them with bi-fuel technology to use CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) as fuel and, in addition, wear the ECO environmental badge of the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic). All the mechanics are three-cylinder, and the engines with higher emission levels have been retired.

As for the Volkswagen Polo GTI, it will be slightly more powerful than the outgoing model. However, we must bear in mind that the Polo GTI marketed recently had a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine with 200 hp and 320 Nm of maximum torque that could be combined with a six-speed manual gearbox or with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. Always with a front-wheel-drive configuration. @via VW.
